Dew points have fallen to the more comfortable 40's in the northern two-thirds of Minnesota (see greens and blues on the UCAR hourly dew point chart). That front has now ushered in drier air (see NWS Aviation Weather Center METAR map). Cloud's high temperature to 88 degrees, while low and even a few middle 90's were common around the Twin Cities and Minnesota River Valley. Those storms produced some damaging hail near I-35 south of the Twin Cities and in the Wisconsin part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. So, the late day showers and thunderstorms developed only over east central and southern Minnesota (set number of frames to 96 on the College of DuPage north central US radar loop) which missed the St. The expected cold front followed the expected timing (see 24-hour loop of NWS WPC Continental US surface maps), pushing into the Twin Cities by mid-afternoon (set time to 20Z-22Z on the NWS Aviation Weather Center METAR map). ![]() Tuesday, J2 :40 AM Bob Weisman Meteorology Professor Saint Cloud State University Atmospheric and Hydrologic Sciences Department Cooler and Drier Today Only Small Chances of Rain Middle to Late WeekĪnother Day, Another Front Coming Through at the Wrong Time ![]()
